hello everyone!
i,m new to the group,and would like to share a few photos,acquired recently,with my canon 40-d,and 500 mm lens + 1.4x extender,just so you know,i wasn,t in the bird,s face,so to speak,which seems to be a very sensitive issue here.

it,s one of those lucky shots,with the angle,and light just right. i set up ahead of her,and waited quietly,for 20 min,till she swam into view.

I know exactly what you mean denis - that's how I approach my shots as well, by setting up in a location that I hope or know that the bird will approach at some point during the day.

Once I get my faster glass I'm hoping to be able to catch more moments like that..darn slow glass! :)

Nothing beats hiding out and waiting...get to really take in your surroundings and really capture that "moment" in all its glory.

you got it! the anticipation,and the bird showing up,in the desired location,is very rewarding.i just bought some camo clothing,to better conceal myself,and will order a camo lens cover,to hide that big white lens! what lens are you using? before i bought my 500 mm,i was using a 100-400 canon f/4-5.6,which i found slow in some situations.
