So what is the difference between voles and mice...and shrews...
-
The meadow vole which is this one has resembles a mouse but with a stouter body, a shorter hairy tail, a slightly rounder head, smaller ears and eyes. The Common Shrew has small eyes, a pointed, mobile snout. Deer mice vary from pale buff to deep reddish-brown upperparts; sides and underparts whitish; tail blackish on top and whitish below; nose and inside of ears, pink.
