Colin ... beautiful photos!  He's had better luck hooking up with a female Mallard at High Park than the male Wood Duck out here that keeps trying with no success.

Denis ... there's always Lake Wabukayne.
He was still out here yesterday morning.  :D  (sorry, couldn't resist).
Perhaps you can catch the one at High Park?!

Wood Duck is on my "need 'em" list too Denis.  These are great shots.  I have seen wood ducks, but never close enough for such good pics.

Wood Ducks are so beautiful, and these pictures capture that beauty perfectly.
Well Done Colin!!

Yes, great shots, Colin! And, Denis and Moira, if you're ever up Stouffville way, my 3 wood ducks visit our pond daily along with the blacks and mallards.

Title: Mallards, blacks and no woodies at 11:00 AM
Post by: Al Johnston on December 29, 2009, 11:05:52 AM
Hey, Denis, Moira and Colin,
It was -17°C early this AM with only 2 or 3 dozen mallards and blacks and (sob) no wood ducks! This'll be the first time they've been missing in over a month. I'd love to have you visit but if you really want woodies, why not check with me first -- ajjohnston@sympatico.ca

I know what you mean, Denis. When I went out to get the paper this morning at the end of the driveway there wasn't a brass monkey in sight but we still had about 500 sq. ft. of open water. Now the good news --- a second flight of backs and mallards came in around 2:00 PM accompanied by our 3 wood ducks so they didn't migrate south like I figured they might have.
They're still ready for your visit --- and Colin and Moira, Of course.
