Title: High Park Coyote!
Post by: ravynne40 on December 27, 2009, 06:46:06 PM
I went out today for a little to High Park, lots of birds, nuthatches?(blue grey) downy woodpeckers and tons of chickadees and ducks (sorry didn't see the wood duck)
much to my surprise on my way back on the path, i was a little "freaked" out by a noise so i stopped, and there it was, a lone coyote sitting in the brush.
do i need to contact anyone about this? or is this usual in High Park?

here are some of the pics i took, these were shot with a 300 mm lens..too close to me!! LOL

I had to call Toronto Wildlife about a High Park matter today and, while on the phone, the woman asked me if I happened to see the coyote with mange.  I told her I had not seen it but I had seen postings about the Humber coyote with mange and she indicated that that very coyote was now reported to be in High Park so I suspect they do move around...

Nice shots Irene - way to stay cool, even though you felt nervous!

thanks everyone, after I got away from the coyotes site, i had found out later that 2 had been seen running across Grenadier Pond. People were leashing their dogs and young children were held close to their parents.

Is it just me or...does this coyote look like a hybrid?

its hard to tell, he was a bit far (was using my 300 mm lens) if that gives you an idea how far. and with all the brush in the way, if hadn't seen pictures of a coyote on here before I would definitely would have thought "oo nice doggy!" LOL

but then again I was found guilty of feeding a baby wolf cub up at my cousins cottage (gee i thought it was a malamute! can you say DOH?)

Well....in my defence....I've had dumber thoughts.....and for those of you who believe that there is no such thing as a dumb question, I look forward to disabusing you of that notion.
