my best snowie so far.and far he was.this is an 96% crop,using a canon 500 f/4 + 1.4x extender.not quite as far as the ones on the KFN property though.

this long eared owl was by far the highlight of the trip.

Love the Long Ear!  I'm still trying to get over the fact you were in the woods the same time as we were (and that I don't have any of these pictures!).  lol

Good job finding a leo out in the open, its a hard spot to shoot at the best of times.

thanks everyone.
moira: you should of hung on a little bit longer.i got the photos right after you left.i too was going to go to presq-isle,but stayed a bit longer.things settled down after awhile,and the owls started roosting again.
paul: you,re right about beeing lucky to have one in the open. i seen many that were so deep in cover,that you could barely make out their outline.

no freezing though.the day i was there,it was +2.i walked around with a light jacket,and no gloves all day.just great!
