Title: Leslie Spit - Sun Jan 11 2010
Post by: Mathew Rossi on January 11, 2010, 10:35:50 AM
It was a great day to be out there yesterday. Bird activity was pretty low, I didn't look for waterfowl but found 2 GH Owls and saw woodpeckers and Chickadees, a Kestrel and a fellow birder reported seeing a Norther Shrike.

I don't want to come across lazy :), but is the van still running in the winter?  It's the cold I have more of a problem with than the walk, so would just like to know there is that option.  I've never seen owls there yet.

i've seen the van but i never see it taking walkers. it seems to patrol the grounds for birds (i saw the van stop and watch me watch a kestrel. it also drove along the east side of the middle ponds, which is not part of the normal van route).

The van is available to the general public on weekends and holidays from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving Day.
