Title: Hawks galore!
Post by: ravynne40 on January 19, 2010, 09:17:51 PM
Driving around today near Appleby Line and Steeles up towards Rattlesnake Point, we counted approximately 15 Red-Tails! They were all busy hunting and one was being chased by some crows. Unfortunately we did not get any photos, but it was well worth driving around and counting!

Rattlesnake Point was very icy so we didn't get far, we couldn't even hear a bird chirp up there. It was so quiet it was eerie.

on the way back we saw a bunch along the 401 (maybe 5) in the trees and a couple of kestrels!

my office is right on QEW and Winston Churchchill, from time to time I see Red Tail fly by as I am on 6th floor. I have a very nice suprise in Dec. One of the Red tail was only about 15-20 feets (I guess?) because I look into his/her eyes and clearly see the color and the pattern on it's tummy and wing.  I always keep my eyes open so that I can see them fly
