Title: Great Horned Owl in Barrie
Post by: lovetobird on January 26, 2010, 10:54:10 AM
Hey everyone,

Been lurking around this site for while and decided its time to start posting. I was so surprised to catch a Great Horned Owl on my way to work yesterday, a lifer as well. Interesting coincidence that also spotted my first Barred Owl in the very same tree, great way to start the week. You can check out the full story and picture at http://petalswingsandthings.squarespace.com/ (http://petalswingsandthings.squarespace.com/)

Have a great week everyone

Nathan

Welcome to the sight.  I really enjoyed your blog; you have some fantastic pictures.  The Great Horned Owl is spectacular.  I enjoyed your Algonquin park shots; reminded me of my visit there at Christmas.  Keep up the posts!

Wow thats great! I used to practically live at Sunnidale park (lived in Barrie for 25 years) and I've never been anywhere near a great-horned there. Where abouts in the park did you see it?

Cheers

Hi Tim,

I spotted the Owl roosting along the stream and was able to relocate the next two days but haven't seen it since.  I walk through the park everyday on my way to work and have been pleasantly surprised on a few occasions with some great sightings.
