Title: Maplewood Park and Lake Aquitaine
Post by: Bird Brain on January 26, 2010, 04:26:45 PM
Hi everyone.  I was wandering around the above 2 locations today between 1-3pm.  Saw the following ...

Maplewood Park:

Blue Jays x 4
Cardinals x 5 (1m, 4f)
Chickadees - lots
House Finches (m & f) - lots
House Sparrows (m & f) - lots
Juncos x 2 (1m, 1f)
White-breasted Nuthatch x 1

Lots of squirrels everywhere including 2 mating.

Lake Aquitaine:

The male Wood Duck is still here with his "lady love" (female Mallard). Today they were cuddling, rubbing heads, touching each other's bills, swimming around side by side, etc.
Very cute!  :D

A male Mallard has bonded with a female Black Duck.

This year is going to be interesting for hybrid ducklings!

Crows - lots
Starlings - lots

Maplewood Park:  East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.

Lake Aquitaine:  SE corner of Glen Erin Dr./Aquitaine Ave., behind the Meadowvale Community Centre

If all goes well, this is what the finished product should look like:

Hi Walter.  Thank You for posting the photo.  Hopefully will get to see some hybrids either here at Lake Aquitaine or just down the street at Lake Wabukayne.

Wow, it looks like a mallard with a wood grain finish!
