Title: PICS Robins and Waxwings - High Park today

Cold but beautiful day in High Park today, usual suspects the Male Wood Duck is still comfortable with his Mallard friends, lots of Downy's and Nuthatches..came accross a pretty good sized group of Robins and with them some Cedar Waxwings...interestingly I was walking along a path in the park in a new area for me and I saw a Coyote he was about 25 yards away, he was lovely but because of the trees could not get a very clear pic, anyway here are a few pics of birds... hope everyone is doing well and getting out there somewhere Cheers!

Great pictures, Niloc! I know there are Robins in my neighborhood through the winter because I periodically hear a part of their song or catch a glimpse as they quickly fly by. They sure are elusive this time of year, though.

Nice shots Colin.  I particularly like the 1st Cedar Waxwing.  I went down a couple of weekends ago to see the Wood Duck and couldn't find him.  Is he at the north end of Grenadier Pond, in the stream, south of the little walkway?  That's where I saw all the mallards and the hybrids I took shots of.  It was a beautiful sunny Saturday when I went and I was looking forward to seeing the wood duck.   If you could clarify location, I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

Thanks Moira, I think you may have missed him ...if it was the little creek where the kids playground is and the small walkover bridge you were at the right spot?

Thanks Lloyd, I guess it depends where you are in the winter seems to me the Robins are always in High Park year round and as you can see they are big and healthy..

its just south of the storm ponds (northwest corner of the park).
if you enter the park from Bloor, its the first place you can park when you drive south.  head down the downward sloping path that leads you to the storm ponds and walk south for 5 min. look and listen. very easy to find :)

nice waxwing pics. yet to see them in the winter. sooo fat!
we saw some robins for the first time (10 of them near the Don River)
