I spent a wee bit of time in Whitby this afternoon.
Hall's Rd - saw a female juvenielle harrier on a stand in the field. also saw 2 other larger birds on the trees on the west side of the field. the juvie harrier flew that way, so perhaps it was mom and dad?
also saw the beautiful red fox on one of the paths.
Thicksons Woods - heard the great horned owl was visible, but my fiancee was too cold to look for it. saw a hairy woodpecker, red-breated nuthatches, a HUGE jackrabbit. also saw some sparrows that didn't sound like typical sparrows. not sure what they were.

I was there until about 1:30. Saw pair of cardinals at Halls Rd., juncos, chickadees galore, downy woodpecker and 8 snow geese on the Lake. I heard the GHO was out in the open at Thickson's, but was too cold by that time and not feeling the greatest this w/e :(
