Today after several fruitless searches I finally spotted my second and thrid Pileated woodpeckers. Both were in the woods off Pebbelstone Rd. just north of Courtice. What an aweseom bird. Also saw 2 red-breasted nuthatch... what a glorious bird.
Yesterday at Amherst I spotted my first Northern Saw-whet, what a gorgeous little bird! Also spotted were a male red-bellied woodpecker, a northern harrier, about 20 snow buntings and a lone adult bald eagle just to the east of the ferry slowly making its way north.
Cheers

Hey great find. I've noticed a few posts lately of pileated being seen. The only time i have ever seen one was out on the Bruce trail near Milton a couple years ago.

Good to see you got them

Check out the Orono Crown Lands at Clarke 5th and Squair Rd. That's where our female PWP hangs out. I don't think I've ever heard of a RB Nuthatch described as "glorious" before... cute, friendly, delightful yes... but glorious??? :-)
Tom.
