Title: Beaver handiwork - Smythe Park
Post by: JW Mills on February 02, 2010, 06:54:34 PM
I was told about beaver problems at the park last summer. Apparently a beaver has been hard at work the last few years trying to raise the water level of the marsh. I had a walk around then and saw numerous toppled saplings as well as copious gnawing on several larger trees. Many trees were encircled by metal fencing for protection. I had intended to return and photograph the beaver's handiwork but it slipped my mind.
I stopped off at the the park today and took these pics. I assume the large trees were cut down for safety reasons.

Oops!
When I posted this I noticed the forum title but somehow missed the sub-text.
Perhaps one of the mods can move it to the Wildlife forum.
