Cherry Beach - American Kestrel, White Wing Scoter, Gadwalls, Red Breasted and Common Mergansers, Buffleheads

Humber River Bay - Common Goldeneyes, Hooded Merganser, Buffleheads, Long Tail Ducks, Red Breasted and Common Mergansers, Black Back Gulls, Iceland Gulls

Colonel Sam Smith Park - Scaup (Greater and Lesser), Buffleheads, Gadwalls (about 6 pairs), American Kestrel, Snowy Owl (on the docks again), Long Tail Ducks, Red Breasted and Common Mergansers, Common Goldeneyes

Pearson Airport - Red Tail Hawks (at least 7), Snowy Owl (1), American Kestrel (2)

When did you he see the owl?  I was there late in the afternoon.  There were no gulls anywhere in the harbour area.  That's usually an indication of a Snowy.  I checked the docks from several angles, scanned all the shoreline and other usual spots but couldn't find one anywhere.  I figured either one had just left or it was in a really well camouflaged spot.

Early afternoon, approximately 1:00pm, it was situated at the western end of the marina beside the rampway and gate that leads into the marina.  It was sitting on the dock, and blended into the fence and dock itself.

Snowy was there there mid-day Sunday. Western docks and hunfered down near the last large metal 'cabinet' nearer a smaller one. Viewed from the east invisible. Viewed from the gated walk out ramp looked like a white hunk of snow or garbage bag....till he moved his head. Usual waterfowl suspects + Kestrel + Coopers in flight over college buildings.

where do you see the scaup? was going to head to SS this morning.

Pretty much anywhere out in the lake, starting at the Eastern harbour and over.  Both males and females present relatively close to shore, good view with bins if you have them.

I was at Sam Smith Saturday as well, before noon. Did not see the Snowy Owl, but counted a Kestrel, a Red-tailed. many Scaups, Goldeneyes.

The largest concentrations of scaup are usually off the east side.  You can sometimes get a closer view from Rotary Park, a small headland a couple of blocks east at 11th Street.
