I don't care if he's semi-tame - he is gorgeous.  I tried to photograph him in the spring and he didn't come in close enough for me.  These photos are great Denis - the colour is spectacular.  I took some later this afternoon and the light was abysmal.  There's also a Northern Pintail there (also semi-tame) :)

now i have to go back for the pintail!grrrrrr!! i went yesterday because it was sunny, and you need the sun to get those irridescent colours to pop.

I hear you Denis.  My wood duck shots are not great as the lighting was poor.  I know I'll talk myself into going again!  Your shots are gorgeous - he really does need the sun.

Title: High Park - Wood Duck n hybrids
Post by: Luv2Bird on February 16, 2010, 12:03:35 PM
Hi all .. Super shots Denis. Thanks to Moira's directions we found the spot and took many shots Sunday (too cloudy for nice colours )  .. of the Wood Duck and hybrids (really close ) ... most unusual .. Will post some pics later to confirm.
Did not see the Pintail , which is what we wanted to get.  We stayed for a long time and walked up n down the area but no Pintail.
