Title: Lambton Woods, Col. Sam Smith & High Park

Great day for me today.  Filled my CF card!
Lambton Woods - pileated, red-bellied woodpecker, downies, hairies, brown creeper, white-breasted nuthatch, pair of cardinals, blue jay, sparrows galore (I have never heard so much knocking on wood!) and lots of friendly dog-walkers!
Col. Sam Smith - american coot, male & female buffleheads, scaup, male red-breasted merganser, female common merganser, male & female goldeneye, longtails, male gadwall and lots of mallards.  The popular Kestrel was flying about, but I couldn't get too close.  I continued on my walk quite a distance from first seeing him and he started hunting and brought lunch back right in front of me.  I've never had such a good look at a Kestrel.  I have said here before that I don't really like those "full meal deal" shots, but I must admit it was fascinating.  Not for lack of trying, I did not see a Snowy.
High Park - the light was touchy all day and it was getting late when I got to High Park, so only went looking for the Wood Duck and second time lucky - found him this time along with a Northern Pintail - both beautiful ducks.

Hi Moira ... you were lucky to see the Northern Pintail.  We are new to birding and have not seen one yet. Will have to check it out. We were lucky to see a gorgeous Wood Duck at Wabukayne.

Sue:  It was very convenient to park off Ellis Rd. and walk in by the children's playground.  Hopefully we'll get a nice sunny day soon, which will make for great viewing.

Moria where in high Park did you see the Northern Pintail, I am heading there tomorrow and was hoping to see something new?

I searched the area very carefully on Wednesday midday. Mallards, American Black Ducks and the male Wood Duck were all present but I couldn't find a Northern Pintail. Was it a male or a female?

Niloc:  Hope I'm not too late responding - the Pintal was with the Mallards and Wood Duck - same spot.
BC:  I don't know if it's male or female - you could check my pics??

BC:  must be too early for me - it's a male Pintail!
