Title: Iceland Gulls and a Thayer's Gull
Post by: Bluffs Birder on March 04, 2010, 09:03:05 PM
There are a couple of Kumlien's Iceland Gulls that can be seen almost daily flying out on Lake Ontario.  They are seen from the top of the Scaborough Bluffs at Rosetta McClain Gardens.  Absolutely no good for photographs but OK for binoculars if you are just looking to add a new 'lifer' bird to your 'Ontario' bird list.  They can also be seen at Bluffer's Park where they come onto the land or the ice sheets.  Not sure exactly how many there are in total, 2 or 3 anyway.  I was told on Tuesday by one of the 'Gull' experts that there is also a Thayer's Gull at Bluffer's Park.  I'll have to take the books with me to figure out which one that is as Gulls are not my forte.

Happy Birding,
