How I got this pic. While walking along the shoreline on the Kingston Field Naturalist property on Amherst Island I noticed a snowy owl sitting on the ice near the frozen marsh. There was a back hoe working about a 1/4 mile in the back ground and it make loud bang at one point causing the owl to fly directly towards me. As you can see I just manged to get the wings in the pic. You don't realize how large their wingspan is until you try and photograph one. I am very pleased with this result. Right time, right place. Wingspan: 50-65 inches
