This morning I had a large flock of Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds, and Cowbirds in my backyard. The first of all three that I've seen this spring. I suspect they've been around for most of the week, because I'd noticed my seed levels going down faster this week than they have all winter.
They were joined by unusually large numbers of Starlings and Goldfinches as well a s a couple of Juncos.
One of the Grackles was quite unusual: it had a large patch of white on each cheek.
