Oshawa Second Marsh 8:50-9:20am
While enjoying my morning coffee at the Oshawa Second I realized quickly there will be ALOT more geese in Ontario before dusk. 15 flocks containing 700+ Canada geese came across Lake Ontario in that time. At 9:02 in a flock of 112 geese was a Greater White-fronted Goose. This flock flew inland towards the northeast. The local geese were heading in the same direction so these new arrivals may come back to roost in the marsh.
Since the 14th there has been an immature Peregrine Falcon present. It is usually sitting on the middle of the three tern islands in the northern half of the marsh.
Other sightings
400+ ducks including 13 Northern Pintails
5 Species of Gulls including Iceland and an early Bonaparte's Gull
2 Killdeer (There is currently substantial amount of mud in the marsh this spring)
large movement this morning of Robins,Grackle, Red-winged Blackbirds, and Cowbirds
Directions
To Oshawa Second marsh/ McLaughlin reserve
Directions: Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit in Oshawa. Go
south to Colonel Sam Drive. Go east on Colonel Sam Drive to the parking lot
at the GM. Headquarters. Park in the nw parking lot closet to the marsh. The east platform is located here.
