An amazing day, warm and sunny... I hit Lambton Woods yet again. I really had to get off the paths and into some muddy situations just to see and enjoy what the woods has to offer. I forgot until I got there that it's March break and with this weather the kids are out in full force. I guess it's better they are outside and playing rather than sitting at home on the XBox; but it was maddening at some moments with all the screaming and running. I debated for a moment what I disliked more... wild and crazy dogs off leash OR wild and crazy kids off leash? I mean I see both charge at birds and squirrels full speed and screaming.
I did see more Red Wings than Sunday... also Song Sparrows, Grackles, 4 Blue Jays, 1 Red Breasted Nuthatch that almost jumped in my hand, many Woodpeckers (Downy & Hairy), Chickadees, 5 Juncos (I thought they'd be gone by now), heard the Red Bellied and a White Breasted Nuthatch. So this was surprising considering the ruckus. And with me getting into the muddy areas and puddles, I got to watch and try to photograph Grackles and Red Wings bathing, splashing, fluffing.

Oh, and we also saw a Northern Mockingbird making Starling noises on Scarlett Rd. I seldom see this species so he/she was a treat.

i was there today from 12:30-2:30.
the kids were in the main area so they weren't so bad. they were much, much worse at the Brickworks. that is either a paradise or personal hell depending on the # of bad kids/lousy parents/annoying dog owners.

I've got to check the brickworks out.
One family, the kid kept chasing every Grackle and Red Wing, screaming "Mom, there's another blackbird with purple on his head" or "Mom..." with his description of the Red Wings.
It was a busy steady flow of people.
