There's been a good variety of ducks on the Spit over the past few days, for anyone thinking of visiting over the weekend. Yesterday afternoon in Cell 1, along with the mallards and gadwall, I saw a flock of five canvasback, a pair of black ducks, and a single drake green-winged teal. Over in Bay D were a couple of pairs of american widgeon and large flocks of scaup. Searching through the scaup, I found one redhead and two drake ring-necks. There was another small flock of canvasback at the south end of Cell 3, and last Saturday I found a pintail working the reeds in the triangle pond. Still lots of golden-eye, bufflehead, long-tails, etc.
