Title: Pileated Woodpecker at the Brickworks
Post by: bidonnant on March 20, 2010, 10:54:06 PM
I stopped by the brickworks today and I saw a pileated woodpecker.  It was hanging about a tree at the top of the north slope to the left (west) of the berm.  There was also two kingfishers hanging about.  Before I stopped at the brickworks I went to the leslie street spit and saw many red breasted mergansers, tree sparrows, red wing blackbirds, buffleheads, american widgeons, scaups, black ducks, as well as other commoners.

Curiosity got the best of us yesterday and after "Googling" The Brick Works, we drove down yesterday morning. What an amazing place! We too saw the pair of Belted Kingfishers, first time for us seeing them, what a treat. We will definitely be going back here. Didn't see the Pileated Woodpecker.....maybe next time. Thanks for letting us know about this place yogistewart!    :D

Read Rob and Angie's blog and decided to go hunting for the Kingfisher. Saw the pair today evening at the brickworks, just next to the pond area. Were flying all over the place and they pretty much had a few constant perching areas. Managed to get a few shots.

Thanks to everybody for reporting this one.

Haha
yes yogi!
Sorry - meant Rob and Angie's blog of the Kingfisher. The rest of the posting is the same. Shall try and correct it.

That's what happens after a birding trip!
