i was hoping this was a shoveller, but she's just a big-nosed mallard/

Why is there no blue on the wings ?  Is this a hybrid or just a young one?  I agree .. really nice wing markings! Nice shot.

no clue about its markings. in fact, i asked on flickr (Bird ID group) before posting because it looked a little odd to be a plan mallard
