Title: Great Blue Heronry, Richmond Hill
Post by: Bluffs Birder on March 27, 2010, 12:28:30 AM
According to a report from Chip Weseloh on ONTBIRDS, the Great Blue Herons are starting to return to the Heronry in Richmond Hill just off Leslie Street.  At last count there were at least 9 birds present and they were already starting to display courtship behaviour.  Glen Steplock and Chip will be posting nesting updates as the season progresses.

Directions: From Highway 401 in Toronto go north on Highway 404, exit at Elgin Mills Rd. Go left to Leslie St, go right (north) just over 1 km to a school (Richmond Hill HS) with a large parking lot on your left.  Pull into the parking lot and the heronry will be dead ahead in the tallest tree.

Happy Birding!
Walter
