Yesterday there were two pairs of Hooded Mergansers on Elgin Pond in Uxbridge. Also, I was lucky enough to see a Pileated Woodpecker fly over at the Countryside Preserve, a first for me at the preserve. On another note, the Woodcocks are back at the preserve, as I heard one displaying and at least two more sitting around on Friday evening.

We saw the same two pairs on Sunday morning. The pond was still half frozen and couldn't get too close for a photo op, will try again this weekend.
