Title: Butterflies, snakes in High Park
Post by: Leslie on April 02, 2010, 08:27:55 PM
My family (they're the ones with the sharp eyes) & I saw at least 2 mourning cloaks in High Park (east side) about 11:30 this morning.  Also one large copper orange butterfly in the sun on a tree trunk--wish (of course) I'd brought the camera--I'd have guessed Compton tortoiseshell but I wasn't sure they were out now, so March sightings admit of this possibility

5 garter snakes on one hill, the west side (east-facing) slope of the ravine which Parkside Drive is falling into--presumably leaving their hibernaculum
