Title: Black-backed Woodpecker in Albion Hills CA
Post by: mattje on April 04, 2010, 08:08:56 PM
Hi folks,

Just to let you know that I saw a male bb woodpecker in the conservation area around 2pm on Friday.

Mark at OFO is currently verifying my sighting, but it was pretty distinctive according to the couple of books I have on the subject.

Took a dozen or so snaps, but haven't published them anywhere yet. (where's a suitable site do this?)

cheers,
Matt

Nice find
BBWO show up in the GTA forests every few year sand usually in march-april. The last two if I remember correctly were in Sunnybrook park Toronto and Sylvan Gulch CA in Bowmanville. Let me guess in was in a Scots Pine debarking it.

Go to the OFO website and look at the picture options will guide you to where to send your photo.

Cheers

Tyler

Great sighting.
That's a "snap?"  My photos don't turn out so well.  Well done.
