Title: Large Slug
Post by: David Shilman on November 07, 2006, 04:40:58 PM
Back on the old board, I described this slug, and  Craig came up with a species.  I forget the response, and can't find it in the archives.  Anyone?

Thanks,

Today on the Leslie Street Spit Ian Cannell and I found a Giant Gardenslug on the road early in the morning way out close to Pipit Point. I picked it up and deposited in the grass. First one I have seen on The Spit.

I saw two on my morning dog-walk, one I rescued from the sidewalk and put in a garden, the other was so "stuck" to the sidewalk, I didn't want to pull too hard.  These guys are very firm (muscular)...not as soft as one might think.  It was VERY difficult to wash the slime off my fingers.

Hi David.  I often see Large Garden Slugs when I am looking for Eastern Red Backed Salamanders.  I see them a lot when I overturn logs.
