Hi
we have just moved to a new apartment
which is located very close to Humber river in Etobicoke.
I am delighted to hear birds sing every day right by
our window. With that, I thought of building
a bird house to put on the balcony.
I want to do it right. But for what particular
species should I aim and what to consider, I am not
sure. I would really apreciate informed advice and links to info.
Thank you.

I think the one thing to avoid with houses is attracting House Sparrows. To help prevent House Sparrows moving in, get a bird house with an opening hole less than 1.25" and without a perch. Chickadees, Nuthatches & Wrens will fit into the smaller openings.

Link below to the ones that I made which have been working well for chickadees.
