I would have thought that any self-respecting migrant would be holed up in a nice thicket somewhere, out of today's wind. However, just after 9:00 this morning I saw a turkey vulture over the park south of my backyard this morning, heading east downtown, riding the west wind.
(I know 1 is not much when people are reporting flocks of 100, but I've never seen one from my backyard before.)

They are truly a magnificent sight when viewed up close .....
Thanks for your post.
p.s. - I still have a friend that laughs at me cuz I am 'So young' and crazy for trying to be a bird watcher and witnessing 2 myself up close .... he still insists i am on drugs and seeing things.... i sent him a link to this forum and he still doubts it....
