Title: Turkey vulture in East York...read on
Post by: mr.sharp-photo on April 10, 2010, 05:44:15 PM
at 4 PM, i spotted what was likely a turkey vulture flying VERY low. it was on the east side of Pape Ave and flying from the north side of Cosburn to the south side. I would guess that it was 60 feet in the air, max.

I pulled the car over but i lost site of it. not sure where it landed or if it was roosting on an apartment balcony.

Perhaps someone can help me out - it was incredibly low and its wing formation was a dead giveaway that it was a vulture. i did not see the red head - it looked black. is that possible?

I think immature birds have a dark head.

We just saw an adult today land on the building on the southeast corner of Sherbourne and Bloor. If I remember correctly, TVs have nested on that building in the past.
