As for the mammals, if you step on them, remember to make stew.
(This really happened to a chipmunk at my kids' camp.  All of the city dwellers were ready to hold a burial ceremony, but the First Nations adviser resident that year demonstrated an alternative.)

I recently watched a television program in which an urban-raised hunter was calling a moose with a costly, tuned fiberglass horn. He was having no luck attracting anything until his First Nations guide successfully used his alternative moose call....a Magic brand baking powder tin and string combination.
