Title: Turtles

I believe these are Painted Turtles
Humber Bay East, April 14
 
 
I count 12

This one was alone on an adjacent log.
I guess he didn't want to join the party!

Count me in as a turtle fan - I find it a bit of a challenge to get close for a good picture.  I got pics of a gopher tortoise in Florida - they burrow in the ground.

Angie,

Turtles don't digest their food very efficiently.  They find places to bask in the sun to increase their body temperatures as an aid to digestion.  Look for them on cool days with strong sun.  (Sunny days early in the fall are usually reliable.)  Good luck!

I've seen lots of painted turtles in the last couple weeks, and you were right, cool but sunny days!  :D
