Title: Hawk ID

I know this sort of looks like a red tailed hawk but it seemed smaller and darker than I normally see and the head in other shots did not seem right.
There is something on its right leg that suggests a band or maybe a jess?? It seemed not that much bigger than a coopers hawk. Any suggestions on ID and anybody loose a hawk?? it could just be a band but the circle on his leg looks dark

Looks like a Red-Tailed.  Nice picture!

Uniform chest spotting (no breast band) and not that big. I say that you have got a very nice picture of a Broad-winged Hawk (it's about the same size as a Cooper's Hawk)

Indeed, Broad-winged Hawk... they have just started arriving back.

Way too cool, a perched Broad-winged Hawk.  Excellent shot Grant.
