Title: Accipiter attack
Post by: Napper on April 19, 2010, 08:29:31 PM
Hey!

Just about 8:00m I stepped out the front door due to a commercial break in the  baseball game and the hockey games.

I immediately spot a  hawk flying from one spruce tree to the one beside it.  A few flapping sounds then the hawk burst out from the nighttime

roosting tree with  a shower of feathers and landed on the ground with a catch. The hawk sat there facing me for a few seconds and then flew off.

There was a young couple on the street who were just as surprised as I was.

Napper.

Happened fast I think it was a Sharp Shinned. I had a look at the feathers,  a Dove was taken. Half an hour later and the Doves are just now returning to the tree for the night.
