Title: Red-bellied Woodpecker

I met Photoman and mkybear at Lambton Woods on Sunday.
While we were snapping Downies and Hairies the Red-bellied flew right over our heads into this tree!

Nice pics of a beautiful bird.  I've never seen the "red belly" and actually wondered how it got it's name :)

Great pics, I was at Lambton Woods once and it was lovely, hope to return soon

 on the third picture Moira i can see a little bit of red...

I specifically posted pic #3 because it showed the red belly.
I too had wondered how/why this bird got its name.
