Title: Scarborough Mockingbirds - Brimley & Heather Rd
Post by: Whittam on April 24, 2010, 12:50:03 PM
While waiting for my car window to be repaired at Apple auto glass I spotted 4 mockingbirds flitting about in the waterway behind the small plaza at Brimley Rd and Heather Rd in Scarboro.   They were occasionally singing and calling a bit.   I suspect they will nest close by in the shrubs along the adjacent waterway.

I returned today to look for the 4 Mockingbirds at Brimley & Heather Rd in Scarboro.   After a long search I did not see the Mockingbirds but I did see lots of Red winged blackbirds including a nest of young ----  seems early to me.  In addition I spotted a flicker and a kestrel on the wires near the train tracks.   This is an interesting little water slew way that has grown up with interesting vegetation that seems to attract quite a few birds.  I suspect there is much more to be seen here as the birds return in May.   Cheers Terry

I visited Brimley and Heather Rd again today and the Mockingbirds are still there.  I suspect they are nesting near by.  Lots of Red-winged blackbirds along the adjacent waterway are also nesting.  There was a Baltimore oriole also singing,  my second one today!
