We went on our 1st bird walk today lead by Bob, organised by CCFEW. It certainly is a good experience and we learnt a lot!
col Sam Smith:
Long tailed ducks
tree swallow
blue-winged teal
red necked grebe
Gadwell
Cardinal
Hairy Woodpecker
Hermit Thrush? (not sure if it is the name of it)
BCNH on a tree
(the lists is a lot more but I don't know some of the name of the bird)
then we went to Humber Bay East/West Park with another 2 experienced birders
barn Swallow-both female and male, posted for us!
Bufflehead
cowbird
killdeer
and highlight of the day is:
Harlequin Duck-1 male 2 female, according to one of the birder, it is unusual to see them in April because they are winter visitors and the male is definitely an eye-catcher!

Fabulous day it was indeed. We also spotted loons on the lake, the generous folk were kind enough to let everyone take a look through their scopes :)
on my way back to the car I had also spotted a white-throated sparrow.
Irene :)
