Title: Today around here
Post by: Napper on November 19, 2006, 02:50:51 PM
This morning I noticed while standing on my deck a redtail or what I thougth was a redtail in a tree Just across the road (Derry rd) I watched it for 20 minutes or so. It moved to a large pile of dirt recently placed  during construction that is ongoing behind my house.  It is using this large and long (400 ft) pile of mud as a perch for hunting. On several occasions it made a  dash down the muddy slope at some sort of prey not more that 20 feet from the road. I went for a little walk around to Derry and  it (the hawk) was considerate enough to sit there will I tried to get a picture from across the road. Unfortunately it was  a little to dark for a decent shot.  It is now near 3:00 pm and I just spotted it again just a little further west again adjacent the road. (I will post the image or whatever turned out later this eveining)

I also visisted my favourite pond today I spotted 30 or more Mallards , 5 Buffleheads and in the brush surrounding the pond 5 or six dark eyed Junko's.

My favourite swan has not been around for quite some time.  Napper :D
