A great start to May with a good variety of birds seen this morning. 300+ Blue Jays flying through in small groups of 10 - 20. An adult female Cooper's Hawk was in the park most of the morning hunting...don't know if it ever caught anything or not. At one point I got within 10 feet of her as she was jumping around on the top of the fence trying to figure out where the White-throats were just below in the bushes. Too busy to notice me. Of course, no camera today with the pending rain.
Here's a complete list of what I saw:
Canada Goose, Long-tailed Duck, Red-breasted Merganser, Common Loon, Red-necked Grebe, Double-crested Cormorant, Cooper’s Hawk, American Kestrel, Killdeer, Ring-billed Gull, Rock Pigeon, Mourning Dove, Chimney Swift, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Downy Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Blue-headed Vireo, Blue Jay, American Crow, Bank Swallow, Barn Swallow, Black-capped Chickadee, Winter Wren, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, American Robin, European Starling, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler, Eastern Towhee, Chipping Sparrow, Song Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, Northern Cardinal, Red-winged Blackbird, Common Grackle, Brown-headed Cowbird, American Goldfinch, & House Sparrow
