Title: Tundra Swans?
Post by: cabz on November 28, 2006, 07:00:52 AM
Late Monday morning about 11:30, I was out riding my horse about 1/2 km south of Hwy 24, about 2 km east of Hwy 25 (Ospringe area) when I heard birds calling.  Looked up and 3 swans  flying southeast.  I am thinking they were tundra, but abit rusty on swans.  They were calling and there may have been at least one other or more, but could not see them.  Also saw 4 sightings of Pileated Woodpecker.  Assuming the same bird, may have been 2.  Also saw and heard nuthatches, chickadees, juncos, crows, sparrows.  Lovely day for a ride.

Came home and was out walking at dusk, heard and saw a Great Horned Owl, I guess coming out from roosting to look for dinner.

Some days don't get better then that!!!!!!!!!!

Good birding
