Title: Robin nest and babies in our backyard
Post by: kokanee on May 06, 2010, 02:27:55 PM
Hi,

Just thought I'd share some pics of a robin nest from our backyard.  It's actually quite close to the house, and the best view is from inside through a window.
We knew the robins were building a nest, but only realized this past weekend that the eggs had hatched.  We never got to see the eggs, because the nest was too high up to see in...but I definitely noticed the little beaks sticking up(not exactly sure when they hatched).  At one time I think I counted 5 in there, but sadly today when I went to look at the nest it was empty.  I'm not sure what could have happened to them or where they could have gone to.  It was quite crowded in the nest.  I don't think they would have been strong enough to fly, I just hope that they are safe and come back to visit.

The photos were taken over the last 5 days since we first noticed them.

EDIT: Sorry, not sure why the pics posted are so small...

Enjoy,

Cheers to new life! This year, to me anyway, Robins look so beautiful and healthy. The males have such rich and dark rusty breasts and the females are plump and energetic. Thanks for the photos.

If you posted from Flickr .. I think you need to click "All sizes" before copying the link.. then you'll get the bigger picture.  :D

Thanks everyone, glad you enjoyed them.  It was an exciting few days...unfortunately now I am suffering from the 'empty nest' syndrome

I actually posted them to the Photo Gallery in this site, and I've done that before and the pics showed larger...so not sure why they are small..
Thanks though
