Title: Symthe Park - Etobicoke

We've been heading down to this park quite a lot recently as it's close to home. We've been looking for  Black-crowned Night Herons, as we've been told by a reliable source they are in the area.

We went down yesterday morning and I got to see my first King bird of the year and lots noisy Geese and Red-winged Blackbirds.  :wink:

Went back late afternoon and was treated to a good sighting of a  male Baltimore Oriole and a female Belted Kingfisher. Got to watch a family of Geese go for a walk about and a swim, so cute!  We also got to watch for a while, a Dowitcher! First for us.
 :D

We haven't seen what we've been looking for, but we've been having some great sightings anyway.

Went back today and guess what?? Finally saw the Black-crowned Night Heron!!
Oh, and it wasn't a Dowitcher we saw, it's a Solitary Sandpiper, still, it's a first for us!     :D

I'm glad to hear you finally saw the heron!
I was there yesterday (met Rob) and saw it as well as the Kingbird and some kind of shore bird, American Goldfinches and
Tree Swallows (flying and at the nest).
The beaver also made an appearance.
 
The western section of the park has been returned to a more natural state and I've noticed an increase in wildlife as a result..
