Beautiful indeed!

Very nice photo Terry. There seems to a lot of these guys around this year, I'm seeing them everywhere I go. We have one that visits our backyard on a somewhat regular basis but never rests.

Great photo. I love the touches of blue and red on the wings.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm seeing more and more of these swallowtails this year. This one posed nicely for a few shots! Cheers Terry

Tip: if it has blue on wings its female...I've also noticed a lot of them around up our way too...they seem especially fond of a lilac bush we have.

Thanks Axeman. I think I see the difference now. I'm looking in Butterflies through Binoculars by Jeffrey Glassberg and the males seem to have 1 or maybe 2 small blue spots...... but the female has 4 or 5 on each wing or close to 8 to 10 total... and they look somewhat larger. Interesting. (birds are easier!) Cheers Terry

Very pretty shot. Nice job with the white flowers, goes perfect with the yellow on the butterfly.
