Haha, I wonder how this will turn out?

That's pretty funny. I could see Owen Wilson pulling off a birder but I'm not very optimistic about Steve Martin and Jack Black. Unfortunately, I suspect they'll just go for the easy laughs and make fun of birders rather than create an accurate portrayal.

Interesting.  I'd never imagined anyone would try to turn that book into a movie.  Having comedians in the lead roles isn't to surprising.  They're all good at playing eccentric characters, and anyone who attempts a big year the way those guys did is clearly eccentric (and/or obsessive).  Hopefully it will be a lighthearted "chase" movie rather than a slapstick farce.

Hopefully it is not just a money grab. I don't like to be cynical, but the producers must surely be aware of the millions and millions of people out there who consider themselves to be birdwatchers...

And for all real birdwatchers the big question is how many bird species you can see in the movie...
