Here in Ottawa (east end), less than 100km from the epicenter, it was shaking quite a bit. Power and communications went haywire for a while.

I was on the second floor of the North York Central Library. The floor bounced and I thought someone was jumping around and acting silly. Then, I heard someone say that it was an earthquake! I grabbed my books and hurried to check out. (You can see what is important to me!) People started coming down the stairs and library staff told everyone to leave. Once I got outside, everything seemed normal. I was thankful for that.

Definitely felt it in Mississauga.  I was at the hairdresser and all of a sudden, the mirrors were shaking. The chair I was sitting in was shaking, could feel the floor and my feet/shoes shaking as well!

Everyone at the hairdresser's was saying "What was that?!". The hairdresser jokingly said "Maybe it was an earthquake". The next second, the radio was announcing that it WAS an earthquake!

Knew I was in trouble when the hairdresser said "Uh Oh!".  ;)

Title: The earth moved!
Post by: Howieh on June 24, 2010, 01:19:55 PM
I was sitting in a lawn chair in Earl Bales Park, facing northwest, when I suddenly started rocking from side to side, which would seem to indicate the waves were coming from the northeast. Interestingly enough there were about fifty other people around (seniors club BBQ) and only one other person said they felt the earth move!! Very interesting experience to say the least!

Hi, I felt it in Brampton while seated in Henry's (NOT the camera shop) waiting for my plate of fish 'n chips. My husband was in the washroom and was unaware that the earth had moved.

I was in Mississauga, the people in the centre of the building did not feel anything, the folks on the outer skirts of the building said they thought they were a) working on the roof or b) thought it was a helicopter flying low..then we were evacuated for a few minutes until we got the clear to go back.

there was a joke going around about a small tsunami hitting the man made lake for the G20 -all 18 inches deep of it

....LOL (sorry that was just too good to pass  up)

Irene :)

that was cute re: mini tsunami in Lake Harper.

We sort of felt it up in Grey...the water in the water cooler was shaking like mad and so was the fridge...and the wind chimes were going crazy...I did wonder if we were having an earth quake but couldn't feel it.

BTW Ravynne, I really enjoyed your pix.
