Thanks Terry and Denis.
Clemens, this guy just sat on the fence post singing away without even a glance my way. I'm glad I found one so close, usually I see them way out in the field beyond the reach of my lense. I'm glad you enjoyed these shots.

Thanks Colin,
Hey Irene, I'm having some better luck with the GBH this year.I'm actually finding a few in the water. However, I do find them more frequently out of the water instead of in it. Oh well.
-
Meghan, usually I find them in the water with Great Egrets over at Rattray Marsh, I haven't been down to check it out this year yet, hopefully soon.
I know you have been seeing them out of water, which I think is great. Seems when I go back to look at the Heron pics, most have the same look,...you know..reeds..Heron..water..so be happy you have rare pics of them in awkward spots :) I like seeing that so keep them coming :)

Thanks Mathew.
Thanks Irene, I agree that finding them in different spots is fun, and definitely unique, but I'm still jealous of all the fishing shots people post. I saw another GBH at work today sitting on top of a Hydro line.
Rattray Marsh is pretty good right now. I was there last weekend for a bit between shifts at work. I found, 3 Great Blue Herons, 4 Egrets, 2 KingFishers, 4 Terns, a family of Wood Ducks, a Pileated Woodpecker. I'm sure there was a great assorment of other birds, I heard many a song being sung, I could not identify any of them due to the overwhelming call of 1000  Red Winged Blackbirds.
