Title: Winter is for woodpeckers and a grackle
Post by: Leslie Kinrys on January 03, 2007, 05:34:48 PM
It has been quiet in the wilds of Willowdale. I've been getting the usual suspects at my feeders. But, the  woodpeckers have been nice. I have Downies, including a very aggressive female that chases all the other Downies away. A male Hairy Woodpecker is almost a daily visitor. And, last week, there was a male Northern Flicker on the suet feeder.

The local Cooper's Hawk checked out the yard, today. Thankfully, the Mourning Doves had left, since I've already seen the hawk kill 2 doves. The Grackle showed up just before sundown and stuffed itself at the main feeder.
