Title: Tagged trumpeter swan
Post by: Margaret on July 05, 2010, 11:01:51 PM
On Canada Day hubby and I took a walk along the shoreline from Port Credit. Offshore at Ben Machree Park I spotted a trumpeter swan with the tag 155.
Next day I reported it on the website for Wye Marsh. Yesterday evening Harry Lumsden, well known for his research on these birds, phoned me to thank me. He had originally tagged her at Bluffers in 2007. He could give me her history for the past 3 years. She's spent a lot of time at Humber Bay and Mimico but has been seen in Hamilton, Burlington and even at Elora Gorge.
I had wondered if many people would have reported the sighting and I was redundant but this was not the case I was the only one to report.

Hello Margaret,
You are not the only one, I did that as well and I am really glad that I did!
Wye Marsh's staff called me back with the whole history for the swans and it's really interesting to know that one of them, was almost dead because of a serious injury, however, it survived and pair up with another swan - was in US and now back in where I saw it!
